Do you enjoy wild landscapes? Are you amazed by geological formations? Do you feel like exploring an area of extreme beauty? Then you won't be disappointed.
The starting point of this hike is the well-known traditional village of Apeiranthos. As we hike down the old mule trail from Apeiranthos to the emery mines, we initially see a forested area, full of oaks and maple trees. We visit two significant churches of the area; Agios Ioannis Theologos, a rare example of byzantine architecture and Agia Kyriaki, one of the most important byzantine monuments in the Balkan region and rare example of aniconic frescoes. The natural setting varies along the way and as we get closer to the bridge, the landscape becomes rugged. On our way back to the village, we cross a fertile piece of land, full of olive groves and vineyards. This is a hike of geological and geomorphological interest.
Additional sightseeing guided tour to the famous "marble village" of Apeiranthos.
